I just did it! I just ate a couple of pieces of chocolate with chunks of hazelnut, it was divine. I felt the chocolate melt in my mouth and the after-taste is still lingering… This just might be the right time to write about this topic, right?

Right, very right. Though I must confess, the recent bouts of nutritional knowledge gained by my readings and lectures, has given me an insight on why I actually crave sugar on a daily basis. (more…)

Have you ever wondered how you will like to age and have you ever imagined or even remotely thought about how you would like to die? I know these are not easy questions to answer but nevertheless are thought provoking because one day we will all be old and will be nearing death. When I look at my parents, I wonder what they think about their aging process and what lessons I can learn from them. Especially at a time when cosmetic surgery, botox and winkle reducing creams and the like seem to be the norm, these question become even more important. (more…)

I find the similarities between Native Indigenous Medicine and Yoga Philosophy/Hindu Religion fascinating. I see synergies between the traditional yoga practiced by saints and gurus who denounced everything material to be closer to the ‘Brahman’ and the Indian/Hindu rituals practiced for several centuries, with the practices of the ‘Medicine Man’.  A decade ago, I began asking questions like who am I, why am I here and what my purpose in life is. Several Native Healers also questioned about their life’s purpose and asked similar soul-searching questions to realize their goal in life – to become a ‘Medicine Man’.  I however do not aim to be a native healer but can see myself working along with native healers to provide alternative healing solutions to my future clients. Every time you pick a magazine, a book, an article on nutrition, it leaves you more confused on what should one should really eat! Every day there is a new scientific research and study about food and some have contradictory conclusions to each other!  I like to give away the conclusion of this blog though and make it simpler for you all -Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. That, my friends more or less, is the short answer to the supposedly incredibly complicated and confusing question of what we humans should eat in order to be maximally healthy. But then, this is just your first step towards eating healthy and there several other components that come under play… (more…)
