I have experienced some of the benefits of these healing modalities and have known stories of miraculous recovery of many from serious health ailments. How many us have suffered from IBS or some form of constipation or diarrhea at some point of time in our life? Too many, I am sure.

According to Ayurveda, the quality of your health greatly depends of how good your digestion or digestive Agni (fire) is. So, let us not ignore the occurrence of constipation/ diarrhea especially if it has continued for long stretches of time. (more…)

Since Vata predominant people are usually talkative and have sporadic bursts of energy, they should mainly focus on a diet that calms, strengthen, grounds and nourishes. Next time you are in a room full of people, look around and observe the various personalities you see. What do you see? You will find some people are extremely talkative and attract others with their energy and enthusiasm, some are more observant and will need encouragement to put their views forward and some who are excellent speakers and will speak to the point – no beating around the bush with these kinds! I recently became a student at the Kerala Ayurveda Academy and world of ayurveda fascinates me so much so at this point that I spend endless hours at a time reading about the subject – something I would not do usually. Being a vata predominate person (Ayurvedic Dosha – Mind Body person), I usually like to be active, spontaneous and full of energy that is difficult to curtain, but now I stay still and focused for long hours reading.
