Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been around for thousands of years. Although the first recorded history of TCM dates back over 2,000 years, it is believed that the origins of TCM go back more than 5,000 years (Micozzi, 2011). Chinese medicine was arrived at observing the patterns in the natural world.  It suggests that since the human body is microcosmic manifestation of the macrocosm around us, we are influenced by the weather, the food we consumes, everything we see, the sounds we hear, the emotions we feel, and all the things that touch us including other humans. Why do we really fall ill? Is diet, exercise and maintaining a healthy lifestyle sufficient for protecting ourself from illnesses or life threatening diseases? For years, we have tried to reduce fat consumption without a clear distinction between good vs. bad fats in hope of better health. “ Eating a low-fat, low –cholesterol diet” has been the mantra for decades and millions of us have tried to follow this advice hoping to lose weight, prevent heart disease and other chronic conditions. In today’s day and age when it is hard enough to fathom what will happen in the next minute, attempting to predict what my life will be like at the age of 75 and above is highly difficult. But I do think that it is important, as it will allow me to plan for my old age better. As a firm believer of the power of visualization, writing what life will be like in my later years would only make my vision into reality. If I can visualize myself aging healthy, the possibility of that happening is greater and I will like to take necessary steps starting now to achieve that goal. (more…)

This dosha usually gets aggravated in the summer time and hence Pitta persons should focus on a diet that cools, is sightly heavy and a little dry.
